The short version
Characters are counted in Raiverb as the total number of characters you send into a single Translation Unit prompt, including:– The source.
– The extra prompt.
– Examples in other languages.
– Any extra contextual help generated by fuzzy matches Fuzzy Matches are like smart shortcuts in translation. They find and suggest words and phrases that are kind of similar, making the translation process quicker and easier. and glossary entries.
– Word limit requests will also generate extra Characters, although in negligible amount.
It is hard to predict how many Character a particular job cost, because this may depend on the source language, the number of matches, etc.
The Start button will display an estimation of the Characters cost before you get a job started.
The Sandbox mode will run the job virtually offline and report the characters. The total of Tokens found will then be displayed in the Tokens box in the bottom right of Raiverb’s Translation Center.
You can see here the content being charged.
Note that the Sandbox will not account for the Translation Memory and Glossary entries being dynamically appended to the job. Therefore, depending on your job and the repeating entries, the Sandbox mode may underestimate the number of Characters.
